Pecan Nut Farm – Republiek van Sanddrift

Jaco Joubert from Die Republiek van Sanddrift started planting a pecan nut orchard in 2010. It is an environmentally friendly farm with the cultivation of a “heart attitude” and priority to grow, feed, recycle, and put back with a sustainable cycle for lifestyle balance between man and nature, from employer and employee through product to consumer.

Approximately 4 hectares of pecan nut trees are irrigated only with fresh mountain water and Die Republiek with limited available water is proud to confirm that the farm is only farmed with fresh mountain water – no river water i.e. no pollution or waste of any kind on the farm and product.
Small-scale orchards are hand-harvested, naturally wind-dried and hand-picked again.
No insecticides or herbicides are used. Mulching ensures healthy balance for environmentally friendly product of which the best quality selected pecans are available to the local market for direct purchases. It is the need to make the best local vintage product available fresh to the South African consumer every year.
